Travel Mini-electric uke

this is a one-off project made out of a 2" thick slab of Mahogany. This is why i never do one-piece necks . it is so wasteful and un-necessary in my opinion. the worst part is hollowing out the body cavity....with a chisel and elbow grease. oi vey.

Backups

i recently got into the habit of building 2 identical uke at a time. kind of a failsafe for when i butcher the darn thing mid-build, I dont have to start from square one and relive the nightmare.

Curly Koa Mini and pocket ukes still needing a home.

~SOLD~

Matching rosettes

martin's Myrtle Concert and Paul's purpleheart soprano.

Koa pocket uke update

just about finish curing the shellac on Hunter's tiny uke. hers a semi-close-up. Jon's Maple soprano is making its debut appearance in the backdrop.
I really took the extra time and care with the french polishing on this lot.

Tiny Koa uke

i went with the 1-piece side for this one. it make sense in a nonsensical way i guess.

the thicker-than-usual block is to accomodate a tenon joint for the neck later on.

glued the back on while reviewing.

medical review and lutherie mash-up

trimming the edges

The good sides

I have been quite the fan of Solid linings lately. i love how the sides feels sturdier than its kerfed counterpart.
from top left going clockwise:  Anthony's Koa tenor with spruce solid linings and freshly resawn sitka Spruce. Martin's elusive Myrtle Concert with some nice Cedar top. Mark's mini Walnut and the pre-thicknessed top scheduled to have some nice inlay later today. the first one out of the new new mould.finally, Paul's beautiful Purpleheart supersoprano.

Wood Purchase to start the new years right

Holy Mcadamia!!! cool new sets from my wood supplier in Kona, Hawaii. yes, i get my woods exclusively from the big island. I always get the cool bargain of the month.aside from this beautiful Koa billets for my Sopranos/Concerts back and sides i think im going to build my first proper Octave acoustic guitar out of this nice looking Silky Oak. things are looking pretty exciting.
