I’ve done so many of these but it never seem to get any easier. Still frustrates me
To no end. I’ve got it down to 3 sets each before getting a succeful 1/4 bend . The heat just has to be right on the dot otherwise you’ll need the very fragile purfling.

this is a late post. installed a new Olson veneer bandsaw blade last week.  no more blow outs and only clean cuts from here on out. this blade cuts like a dream if set-up correctly. i was able to slice the blocks freehand without any fence this time. no more elaborate and complicated jigs to prep rope veneers to size. I'm satisfied with how this particular piece turned out but there's always room for improvement.
